Sydney CC has recently improved its links with local clubs and has appointed Rohan Awati as head coach of youth development for boys.
Rohan has formed a development squad for boys aged 12-15. This squad includes the Green Shield shadow players, and trains once a month with clear focuses on mental, tactical and technical skills that are required to perform at Green Shield level. This squad also has the opportunity to play some practice games against local private schools.
Sydney CC has also come to an agreement with the Inner West Harbour and Northern District associations. This agreement creates a clear player pathway for local talent, with many of these players involved in our Development/Green Shield Squads. With a clear focus on retaining and developing top junior local talent, Sydney has invested in fielding a metro cup team which will be filled by primarily under 21 players. This allows for post-HSC athletes to continue to play competitive cricket and provides a platform for our under 16 athletes to represent the Tigers on a weekly basis.
With more than 30 athletes in our u16 system and 18 players in our competitive Poidevin-Gray Shield squad, the future at Sydney is in safe hands. Please get in contact – rohan.awati@scgcricket.com.au – to explore our various junior development pathways.

For girls under 11

For girls 11 and over
If you’re already playing with a local club, then there are clear ways to come to the notice of the Tigers.
The club supports the local under-13 representative team playing in the Mollie Dive Shield, and the local under-15 representative team in the Margaret Peden Shield. They’re a great pathway, and more than half the current 1st grade team have come through those competitions.
The Tigers also offer an Emerging Tigers program that aims to identify and support female cricketers aged 11–15 within our region. These players are introduced to a high-performance training environment, guided by current Tigers players.
Brewer Shield (left) is an under-18 Premier Cricket competition and is the traditional pathway to higher grades.
